چکیده

Clustering techniques have been applied to spectral images mostly to classify materials or objects included in the scenes. We present in this study new data concerning the use of clustering algorithms as a preprocessing step for obtaining spectral data from camera responses. Four different clustering algorithms have been used, and the Kohonen maps seem to provide very promising results for spectral recovery based on simulated digital counts wihout or with a high level of additive noise included. We have considered also the how the addition of a wide-band color filter in front of the camera lens to increase the number of channels of the camera from three to six affects the results. The influence of the number of classes for all four algorithms and map configurations for the Kohonen map have been studied as well.

Separating illuminant and surface reflectance spectra from filtered trichromatic camera measurements

We show how illuminant and reflectance spectra can be accurately measured or separated, up to a multiplicative factor, at each pixel of a scene by using a CCD digital camera instead of a spectroradiometer. In order to obtain suitable spectra of both illuminants and reflectances in a scene, we may use a 6channel measure from the digital 3-channel RGB camera. This is accomplished by taking two im...

Supervised training sample selection for the estimation of spectral reflectance using a RGB camera

Spectral imaging can provide spectral information from which spectral radiance or reflectance can be recovered at each image pixel. Recovery algorithms lead to good spectral and colorimetric performance by directly transforming RGB digital counts to spectral reflectances, but his approach is sensitive to the size and composition of the training set. What we propose here is a supervised method t...

Spectral Estimation of Printed Colors Using a Scanner, Conventional Color Filters and applying backpropagation Neural Network

Reconstruction the spectral data of color samples using conventional color devices such as a digital camera or scanner is always of interest. Nowadays, multispectral imaging has introduced a feasible method to estimate the spectral reflectance of the images utilizing more than three-channel imaging. The goal of this study is to spectrally characterize a color scanner using a set of conventional...

Recovering Spectral Data from Natural Scenes with an RGB Digital Camera and Colored Filters

Many spectral-recovery methods using RGB digital cameras assume the underlying smoothness of illuminant and reflectance spectra, and apply low-dimensional linear models. The aim of the present work was to test whether a direct-mapping method could be used instead of a linear-models approach to recover spectral radiances and reflectances from natural scenes with an RGB digital camera and colored...

Recovering fluorescent spectra with an RGB digital camera and color filters using different matrix factorizations.

The aim of a multispectral system is to recover a spectral function at each image pixel, but when a scene is digitally imaged under a light of unknown spectral power distribution (SPD), the image pixels give incomplete information about the spectral reflectances of objects in the scene. We have analyzed how accurately the spectra of artificial fluorescent light sources can be recovered with a d...
